Web Policies

• Anyone may comment on posts; real names are preferred but not required. The webmaster reserves the right to edit or delete comments.
• Chapter members are encouraged to post. Authors should use their real names. The webmaster will have final editorial control over all posts. To get started, register, then contact the webmaster to have your account upgraded with authoring privileges.
• Chapter events should be added to the “events calendar”. Events of interest to the membership sponsored by other organizations may be added to the calendar at the discretion of the Board and webmaster.
• Views expressed are those of the authors and do not necessarily represent the Philadelphia Regional Chapter or the Medical Library Association.

• What’s the password for the membership directory?
  It was included in your confirmation message when you joined/renewed. If you don’t have it handy, contact membership chair, Laura Koepfler.
• How do I include links in comments?
  While you cannot link a word or phrase to a URL the way you can when writing an original post, you can simply spell out the URL in the text of your comment.

MLAPhil-L

What is the MLAPhil-L mailing list?
MLAPhil-L is the official Email Discussion list of the Philadelphia Regional Chapter of the Medical Library Association. It was launched in Spring 2007, replacing the listserv mla-phil@hslc.org. Its primary purpose is to complement the publication of The Chronicle by allowing immediate communication across the membership.

MLAPhil-L is expected to be used to announce imminent Chapter activities, distribute time-sensitive MLA documents, share with Chapter member issues and decisions of their board, and provide a forum for discussion of relevant issues among Chapter members. MLAPhil-L may also be used to broadcast other appropriate items of general interest to Chapter members, such as job openings and changes.

How do I subscribe?

1. Go to: http://mlaphil.org/mailman/listinfo/mlaphil-l_mlaphil.org
2. Enter your email address and your name in appropriate fields and click “subscribe.” Establishing a password is optional, but you will be automatically assigned a random password if you do not choose your own.
3. You will receive an email asking for confirmation that you want to subscribe to the MLAPhil-L Email List. Follow the instructions contained in the email.
4. Once you confirm your subscription you will receive a Welcome email that contains your password and information on where to go to change your subscriber options. The Welcome email will also explain how to unsubscribe to MLAPhil-L. It is strongly recommended that you save this email
5. To post a message use the address mlaphil-l@mlaphil.org. You should enter the list’s email address as a safe sender in any spam blocking software you or your institution may use.

How do I post a message to the list?

1. Address a new message to mlaphil-l@mlaphil.org
2. Enter a concise description in the subject field.
3. Type your message.
4. Send the message.

Do I have to belong to the local Chapter to subscribe to MLAPhil-L?
No. While it’s always preferable to join and support the local chapter, anyone with access to the Internet may subscribe.

Do I have to subscribe to the list before I can post a message to the discussion list?
Yes, You must subscribe to the MLAPhil-L Discussion List in order to send messages. This is to prevent spam being sent to subscribers.

How can I unsubscribe from the MLAPhil-L Email Discussion List?

1. Information on unsubscribing and changing you subscriber options is contained in the welcome message you received upon subscribing to the discussion list.
2. You can also unsubscribe to the discussion list by sending and email with a blank subject line and body to mlaphil-L-leave@mlaphil.org
