The conference is right around the corner and we still have many, many empty shifts to fill for the Hospitality Booth and Placement Center.
Please consider volunteering some time during the conference. Remember if you are not registering for the conference you can still attend one day for free if you volunteer for 4 hours.

Information from the ALA’s District Dispatch, Repeal REAL ID Act of 2005:
The American Library Association has signed on to letters to the U.S. House of Representatives (Congressman Tom Allen, February 26) and Senate (Senators Akaka and Sununu, February 28) expressing support for efforts to repeal the REAL ID Act of 2005. 2007 marks the 41st Anniversary of the Freedom of Information Act. FOI Day is held annually, on or near James Madison’s Birthday, and celebrates openness in government. This year’s FOI Day will take place on March 16, 2007. To register and read about FOI Day, please visit:
Save the Date: Librarians from all disciplines are invited to Washington, DC, for National Library Legislative Day (NLLD).
NLLD is a two-day event, May 1st and 2nd, in which people who care about libraries participate in advocacy and issue training sessions, interact with Capitol Hill insiders, and visit congressional member offices to ask Congress to pass legislation that supports libraries.
