The following memo and attached agenda from MLA’s Washington representatives describes a meeting convened Monday, 30 July, 2007 by the NIH to gather input from professional medical societies regarding efforts to enhance the NIH peer review process.

The summer issue of the Chronicle is available (pdf). No, it’s not as compelling as Harry Potter, but it does contain lots of information relevant to the Philadelphia chapter of MLA. You can read it at the old website, where it is available in both HTML and PDF; or here at the new website (click on the Chronicle link in the green banner above for all issues). For the fall issue we hope to be able to post the HTML version as a series of postings on this new chapter site. The PDF will still be available for those of you who like to download it. HR 3043 Passes; Makes Public Access Mandatory

The House of Representatives passed H.R. 3043, the bill making appropriations for the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and related agencies for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2008. The bill includes language making the NIH public access policy mandatory. The Senate should take up the bill later this summer.
