The Georgetown University Health Policy Institute has written A Consumer Guide for Getting and Keeping Health Insurance for each state and the District of Columbia. The guides are organized similarly, including a summary of legal protections, information for small businesses and the self-employed, financial assistance options (federal and state), contact information, and more. These guides will be updated periodically. Some guides can be browsed online; all are available as PDF downloads.
The JISC Academic Database Assessment Tool (ADAT) is a new resource to assist librarians in making decisions about purchasing academic databases. This assessment tool compares database platforms, journal title lists of bibliographic and full text databases, and even ebook platforms.
MLA-Phil supports One Book, One Philadelphia.
The 2008 book is Dave Eggers’ What is the What. The novel tells the story of Valentino Achek Deng who witnessed the atrocities of civil warfare in Sudan and became one of the so-called Lost Boys. His journey as one of more than 20,000 uprooted and orphaned children in Sudan and to his new home in the United States has been called by the New York Times “an extraordinary work of witness, and of art.”
