Library Advocacy Events

The Pennsylvania Library Association and Commonwealth Libraries is launching a project called Snapshot PA: One Day in the Life of Pennsylvania Libraries- October 28, 2009. Its purpose? To capture the impact that Pennsylvania libraries have on their communities on a typical day. Visit the official website for additional information.

Library Advocacy Day will replace National Library Legislative Day. On Tuesday, June 29, 2010, in conjunction with the ALA Annual Conference, library advocates from all 50 states and Washington, D.C. will meet at Upper Senate Park on the U.S. Capitol grounds. The event, which will begin at 11 a.m., will feature guest speakers, photo ops, and a chance to cheer on libraries! Description: The conference will be devoted exclusively to the current management and administration issues facing public libraries, academic libraries, and special libraries, and will feature six interactive sessions led by Bob Kieserman, Director of The Library Management Institute. The conference will provide a platform for the exchange of new and innovative ideas in managing today’s libraries with many opportunities to listen, share, and learn from your colleagues. This conference is open to anyone directly involved in library management. Library administrators, department managers, program managers, training specialists, human resources managers, public relations/marketing directors, fundraisers, and financial managers will enjoy the sessions of this conference.

Chapter Breakfast at 3 by the Sea on Thursday

Will you be at 3 by the Sea on Thursday? If so, please stop by to catch up with your MLA-Phil Chapter colleagues over an informal buffet breakfast between 7am – 9am in the Asian Spice restaurant at Resorts. The Board will be meeting there at 8am. Members are welcome to sit in.
