Opportunity: Communications Chair

Rachel Resnick will be stepping down from her post as Communications Chair when her term ends in 2011.  If you would be interested in assuming this post, please contact Andrea Kenyon right away, so that an apprenticeship can begin as soon as possible.  The next issue of the Chronicle will be out in November, and this is a good time to observe the process.

The Communications Chair is responsible for:

1) Editing the Chapter newsletter–the Chronicle–and publishing three issues per year.  This includes: writing and/or editing articles and columns, managing the columnists, proofreaders, and the PDF formatter (if there is one),  uploading the articles and related media (photos, maps, etc.) onto the Chapter website and editing the HTML code as needed.  Working with the Webmaster to finalize the issue.  Currently the Webmaster has been the PDF formatter as well. the Communications Chair also serves as an advisory capacity regarding the website.

2) Managing the Communications-L email list to communicate with the Communications Committee; also managing the list for the Chapter Board.  The manager of the Chapter email list reports to the Communications Chair.

3) Managing the Chapter’s social media (LinkedIn group, Facebook account, Twitter account).

4) Attending Board meetings.

Please note that the Chair may appoint others to help with specific tasks.

So if you have any interest in public relations, newsletter publishing, or social media, this would be a good way to get experience.
