Please contact your Representatives immediately and urge them to oppose a $1.6 billion cut (5.2 percent) in NIH funding from the Fiscal Year 2010 level. The House is scheduled to being debate on H.R. 1 today, with the vote on final passage expected to occur on February 17th.
The House Republican leadership released late Friday a continuing resolution (CR) (H.R. 1) for the remainder of FY 2011. The CR includes a $1.6 billion cut (5.2 percent) in HIH funding from the FY 2010 level. This would reduce the NIH budget to the FY 2008 funding level. Furthermore, if enacted, the entire cut would have to be absorbed in the remaining months of FY 2011, significantly intensifying the impact of the reduction.
Please contact your Representative immediately and urge them to oppose this cut to the nation’s medical research effort.
