Congratulations to Susan Cleveland, MLS, Library Director at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden, NJ, who won an NN/LM Middle Atlantic Region technology improvement award for kiosks that will be in the ER, the third floor waiting room and the library. They’ll provide consumer health information in English and Spanish at the start, with expansion to other languages as requests increase. Sue is assembling the kiosks herself, sourcing components and cabinets and using patient education materials from several vendors as well as the NIH/NLM site.
The NN/LM offers tech awards up to $7,500 for the purchase, installation, and/or upgrading of information technologies that enhance access to health information. A list of recent awardees is at the MARquee. All MAR members are eligible to apply for these awards. The call for the next round of funding will be late Summer or early Fall.

There are a number of medical libraryfolk using Twitter, so I thought it might be fun if we were able to conveniently send each other short messages during MLA 2008. All I had to do was set up the MLA2008 account and register it with GroupTweet.
