According to Dr. Bates, there are two developments that are likely to fundamentally change the practice of medicine in the next century. One is genomics, and the second is health information technology (HIT). Health information technology is likely to become ubiquitous in care delivery in the near future. While it has great promise, it hasn’t always delivered. Dr. Bates will discuss the current state of HIT, what the next frontiers are, and what an HIT-enabled practice of medicine might be like.

Barnes both as a physician (and his role in the development of Argyrol) and as the collector of what is now one of the world’s largest collections of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and early Modern paintings..
