“Gregor Mendel: Planting the Seeds of Genetics”

“Gregor Mendel: Planting the Seeds of Genetics” presents Mendel’s life and work, charts the rise of Genetics and introduces you to scientists who are building upon his discoveries.  This exhibit is being presented by Villanova University and The Academy of Natural Sciences from May 24 through September 28.  If anyone attends and would like to right about it for the Chronicle, please let me know.

New editors for the Chronicle

Congratulations and thanks to Jo-Ann Babish from Moses Taylor Hospital and Sheryl Panka-Bryman from the Temple University Health Sciences Center Libraries, who have volunteered to serve as co-editors for the Chronicle’s Member Profiles and Member & Library News columns. Linda Katz is staying on as an editor-at-large, helping with proofreading. If you have any news about yourself or would like to see someone profiled in future issues, please contact Jo-Ann (570-340-2125) or Sheryl (215-707-8936).

Would you like to edit a column (or two) for the Chronicle?

Due to other commitments, Linda Katz is no longer able to edit the Member Profiles and the Member & Library News columns for the Chronicle, so I am looking for another chapter member to assume responsibility for those columns.  To get details about what editing these columns entails, please contact Linda.  To volunteer for the position, please contact Rachel Resnick.

MLA-Phil Communications Survey Results: the Chronicle and MLAPhil-L

I would like to start off by thanking each and every one of the sixty-five people who participated in the survey.   And of those, fifty-eight answered every question.  On behalf of Gary and Kevin and our committees, it really means a lot to know that you care enough about communications within the chapter to help us help you by answering our questions about how you use our various communications media.  We want to do right by you, and your participation tells us that you want us to do well.

First some demographics:  about three-fourths of the respondents were members of MLA National, while nearly all were members of the Chapter.  Many of you are members of other information-related organizations, including but not limited to the American Libraries Association, SLA or its local chapters, the Central PA Health Sciences Library Association, the American Society for Information Science & Technology, the Pennsylvania Library Association, and several others.  Read more>>>
