<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p>
<p>The Clinical Informatics Librarian builds dynamic, collaborative relationships within the Jefferson University Physicians (JUP) and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (TJUH) clinical environments by providing a variety of specialized information services and individual consultations and by participating as a member of research- and knowledge-management-related project teams.  As a member of the Information Services team, he/she will participate in evaluating, planning, and developing clinical support services.  Additionally, the Clinical Informatics Librarian will be involved in supporting the information needs of TJU faculty, researchers and students.<br />
<span id="more-5219"></span></p>
<p>Cultivate relationships within  JUP and TJUH clinical environment to identify opportunities for AISR partnerships in information literacy, information management and education.   Provide consulting services that require a high level of knowledge on the effective use of information resources, search engines and information management software.</p>
<p>Attend clinical research committee meetings, clinical rounds, leadership and management meetings, journal clubs, seminars, case-conferences and other appropriate clinical forums, contributing expertise in advanced information and knowledge management practices. Research, analyze and deliver recommendations and reports in support of group objectives.</p>
<p>In response to complex clinical queries search biomedical literature and filter and synthesize the retrieved results to specific and focused outcomes. Proactively forward relevant information to clinical clients in anticipation of needs.</p>
<p>Collaborate with AISR staff, clinicians, researchers, and technical staff to develop strategies and tools in support of the Hospital&#8217;s patient care mission. Explore, trial and recommend databases, datasets and informatics programs to manage, store and ensure access to clinical research information.</p>
<p>Provide information services to TJU faculty, students in a consultative role as a public services librarian.</p>
<p>Teach library, information literacy or other specialized classes in cooperation with the Education department. Participate in conducting new student and human resources orientation sessions.</p>
<p>Participate in library staff training in the effective use of knowledge-based resources.</p>
<p>Participate in a variety of professional activities, such as active participation in professional organizations and publishing.</p>
<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Master of Science/Information Science, ALA-Accredited MLS</li>
<li>Clinical Degree strongly preferred</li>
<li>Five to eight years experience in a healthcare or biomedical environment</li>
<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills</li>
<li>Ability to work well with people and different technologies</li>
<li>Ability to interpret clinical literature</li>
<li>Facility with technical writing</li>

<p><span id="more-5038"></span>The Associate Director, Research and Education Services is responsible for planning, directing, and evaluating research and education support services to faculty, staff, and students of the NYU School of Medicine, NYU Langone Medical Center (NYULMC), and other health sciences units. He or she collaborates with other senior managers in the overall development of the NYU Health Sciences Libraries&#8217; information and liaison services. As a member of the libraries’ senior management team, the Associate Director shares responsibility for determining the future course of the libraries, including both strategic and operational planning. This is a full time, tenure-eligible, faculty appointment reporting to the Director, NYU Health Sciences Libraries and Division of Knowledge Informatics.</p>
<p>The goal of the libraries’ Research and Education Services unit is to: increase the capacity of faculty, staff, and students to use health information resources effectively; address problems and barriers of access to resources; and promote the use of innovative information management tools and techniques. The liaison services of the unit focus particularly on identifying and meeting needs for health information resources through assessing needs and developing strategic information partnerships between library faculty and faculty, staff, and students.</p>
<p>Review of applications will begin September 6, 2011, and will continue until the position is filled.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Thomas Jefferson University, a health sciences university, invites applications and nominations for the position of Electronic Resources Librarian. The Electronic Resources Librarian ensures local and remote access to electronic resources to TJU faculty, staff and students.  Reporting to the Director, Collection Management, the Electronic Resources Librarian is a key member of the department and supervises 3 FTEs.  He/she also serves on the Library’s management team.</p>
<p><span id="more-5013"></span>The Electronic Resources Librarian maintains and updates electronic resource holdings using Serials Solutions or a similar electronic resource management system (ERMS), a proxy server and customized vendor interfaces. He/she will need to effectively troubleshoot access and content-related issues with aggregators, vendors and publishers.  Additionally, the Electronic Resources Librarian oversees the Library’s document delivery services.</p>
<p>Qualifications: Masters degree from an ALA-accredited institution. Three to five years academic library experience in a professional position working in electronic resources and/or serials management required.  Strong knowledge of link resolver technology (preferably Serials Solutions) and relational databases a must.  Understanding of scholarly publishing, copyright and electronic resource licensing desirable.  Must have an understanding of COUNTER compliant usage statistics, be familiar with digital library tools and standards (XML, HTML, OpenURL, DOI, RSS, Library 2.0, etc.), and have an understanding of open access and open source related issues.</p>
<p>Solid experience independently supervising a library service/function required.   Experience working on projects and teams will be expected. Effective oral and written communication skills necessary.   Must have a strong commitment to service.</p>
<p>The Scott Library is a unit of Academic &amp; Instructional Support &amp; Resources (AISR), which is focused on the development and transmission of knowledge resources for the university and its hospitals. AISR develops educational software, manages three public access computer labs, media production services and has responsibility for the learning infrastructure of the University.
