We are moving ahead nicely in organizing this exciting meeting, slated for October 2009. Three MLA Chapters–New York/New Jersey, Mid-Atlantic, and Philadelphia will be jointly hosting this meeting, and we need your help to make it a success! Committee structures have been set up, and we have ample opportunities for member involvement. I hope you will consider volunteering to help in this worthwhile endeavor. The more folks who get involved, the less of a burden for everyone. Most committee work will be done online, as committee membership will be comprised of members from all three chapters.
Possibilities for participating include (but are not limited to):
- AV/Local Arrangements: Plan and oversee AV set-ups
- Registration/Local Arrangements: Registration desk, emergency supplies, office supplies, ribbons for name tags, registration revenues/statistics
- CE: Plan for speakers; coordinate equipment with AV team; arrange for class supplies, coordinate evaluations (Need people to help with this ASAP!)
- Exhibits: Work with vendors and hotel, coordinate exhibits and related considerations
- Hospitaliy: Work on meal selection, dine-arounds, local attractions, travel information, tourist information, events, Welcome Reception.
- Communications: Conference folders, bags, event signs, tickets, Conference program.
- Program: Facilitators, moderators, program schedule/content, honoraria
These duties are but a few that are needed to make this meeting a success. Rest assured that there will be plenty of “etcs” encompassed by these committees–you help is essential!
