The Librarian Incentive to Boost Recruitment and Retention in Areas of Need (LIBRARIAN) Act of 2007 was introduced April 25, 2007 in both houses of Congress — Senate Bill 1211 and H.R. Bill 1877. The Bill would amend the Higher Education Act of 1965 to provide Perkins student loan forgiveness and in turn encourage individuals to become and remain librarians in low-income schools and public libraries.
