Drexel University–Collaborative Technology Librarian

The Drexel University Libraries seek a highly-motivated, innovative, energetic individual for a newly-created position. The Collaborative Technology Librarian will work with students, faculty, staff and librarians across Drexel’s three campuses to promote and support new educational technologies. This person should have a can-do attitude and thrive in a fast-paced, nimble environment. Based in the Hahnemann Library on the Center City Campus, the Collaborative Learning Librarian will also be a key member of the Health Sciences Libraries’ reference and instructional staff.

Some major responsibilities:

  • Investigate, assess and evaluate emerging technologies for use in the Drexel University Libraries
  • Incorporate and deploy cutting edge technology in the library’s education and reference services including, but not limited to–wikis, podcasting, RSS feeds, social networking programs, virtual worlds and other Web 2.0 technologies
  • Collaborate with library colleagues to provide outreach programs, both online and in-person; participate in programs to promote the library and its resources
  • Provide reference services and instruction to users in the health sciences programs and departments

Required qualifications:

  • MLS degree from ALA-accredited program
  • Three years professional library experience, including work in reference and educational services
  • Knowledge of and interest in emerging information technologies
  • Interest in the medical and health sciences
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a collegial environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Strongly preferred qualification: Health sciences library experience, including work in reference and educational services
