Staff Librarian
The Wistar Institute is an international leader in biomedical research, dedicated to discovering the causes and cures for major diseases and the development of vaccines. Affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania, The Wistar Institute has a highly collaborative research environment. Wistar also enjoys a close working relationship with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and many other research organizations in the greater Philadelphia area. Founded in 1892 as the first non-profit biomedical research institute in the country, The Wistar Institute maintains its status as an independent research center and has long held the prestigious Cancer Center designation from the National Cancer Institute.
The Wistar Institute Library and Archives has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Librarian. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the interlibrary loan and serials functions, maintaining the Wistar Publications Database,
Copyright Clearance Center and other agency payment reports. Additionally, individual will assist the Director Library/Curator with other library Functions, such as online and in-person information requests.
Position requirements include a Master’s degree in Library/Information Science. Coursework in scientific/medical resources, bibliography and online searching desired. Minimum of two years working in a scientific or medical library. Experience with Docline, Quickdoc preferred, as well as managing serial, (print and online) interlibrary functions and Copyright Clearance Center. PC computer experience preferred and ability to provide a high level of customer service.
