Position Title: Interlibrary Loan Lending Assistant (Part-time; 25 hrs/wk.)

Position Summary:
The Interlibrary Loan Lending Assistant is responsible for providing materials from the J.W. England Library’s collection to other libraries.
The Interlibrary Loan Lending Assistant interacts with Library staff, faculty, and students, as well as other University personnel, maintains external relationships with staff at other libraries, document service providers, delivery services, as well as with USP alumni and for-profit customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees all phases of Interlibrary Loan (ILL) lending, including receiving, filing, transmitting/sending, invoicing, and updating requests.
- Acts upon and processes all requests according to schedules imposed by computerized ILL systems and local consortia, judiciously adhering to internal and external policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
- Utilizes numerous automated computer systems and masters hardware relating to Interlibrary Loan (scanners, microform machines, etc.)
- Maintains all required records associated with lending activity; prepares periodic statistical reports
- Responds to telephone and email inquiries regarding lending of materials to all types of users, effectively communicating relevant policies and procedures
- Trains and supervises student workers in filling lending requests
- Assists ILL Borrowing Assistant in obtaining materials from other libraries as needed; fills in for Borrowing Assistant during absences
- Serves as backup in staffing busy Circulation Desk, adhering to and communicating all pertinent policies and procedures.
- Reports to Coordinator of Access Services
- Performs other duties as required and assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent. 1-2 years related of relevant training or experience. Additional college-level work or library experience/training a plus
- Competency with microcomputers and software applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work within a team, as well as maturity to perform independently
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
- Strong service orientation and customer focus. Ability to judiciously apply internal and external policies, standards, and guidelines, and accountability to follow through on all responsibilities to completion
- Keen attention to detail, coupled with ability to identify and resolve problems effectively.
- Ability to manage and organize multiple priorities; adjusting workflow in order to maximize productivity.
- Ability to lift books and journals weighing 10 pounds over one’s head
