Position Title: Reference /Systems Librarian

Department: Information Science

Reports to: Chair, Dept of Information Science

Position summary:

J. W. England Library welcomes applications for a 12-month faculty position in the Department of Information Science to serve as the Reference/Systems Librarian.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

As a faculty member in the Department of Information Science, perform all professional librarian duties including, but not limited to: reference desk, collection development, teaching, scholarly activities, and service.

As Reference/Systems Librarian:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade library functions including, but not limited to: EZ-Proxy, ILLiad, and ExLibris Voyager system database
  • Maintain and update the library website
  • Serve as the liaison between the IT department and the library
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade the University listserv
  • Provide appropriate technical training and support to the department and the library
  • Assist in identifying and implementing new digital initiatives, systems, and software for the library
  • Keep abreast of library systems trends and issues

Education and Experience:

  • MLS or equivalent degree from an ALA accredited institution
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience
