Foundations of Bioinformatics and Searching (8 MLA CEs)

UPDATE: The November session in Philadelphia is sold out. Please consider attending the April session in Buffalo. Travel scholarships are available.

The Middle Atlantic Region (MAR) of NN/LM is pleased to announce a one day “Foundations of Bioinformatics and Searching” workshop for MAR medical, clinical, hospital, public/consumer health librarians and their managers/administrators/directors. MAR science, engineering and physical sciences librarians working to provide bioinformatics services related to biomedical and preclinical research efforts will also be considered.

The workshop is offered for 8 MLA CE credits.

Geeks Bearing Gifts-Recap

Technology Coordinator Gregg Headrick, from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine Middle Atlantic Region (NN/LM MAR), continues to keep this four-credit continuing education class up-to-date.  He presented the latest iteration to Chapter members on August 12, 2010 at the Simmy and Harry Ginsburg Health Sciences Library at Temple University’s health sciences campus on North Broad Street in Philadelphia. Come for the morning CE class, “Geeks Bearing Gifts”. In tech time it’s been ages since Gregg last taught this for our chapter so if you attended in November 2008 it’s time for an update! Both events are FREE to members; the reception is $10 for non-members.

Now’s the Time to Register for Local CE Events

The MLA Webcast Understanding the Electronic Health Record Maze and Health Sciences Librarians’ Roles will be presented on Wednesday, Mar. 24, 2010 from 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM at the iSchool at Drexel University (Rush Building, Room 014, 3141 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA.) Our chapter is partially subsidizing the cost for MLA/SLA members. You can earn 3 Continuing Education Units for attending. Registration costs are $30 for non-members, $20 for members, and $10 for students/retirees/those between jobs.
