<p><span id="more-5038"></span>The Associate Director, Research and Education Services is responsible for planning, directing, and evaluating research and education support services to faculty, staff, and students of the NYU School of Medicine, NYU Langone Medical Center (NYULMC), and other health sciences units. He or she collaborates with other senior managers in the overall development of the NYU Health Sciences Libraries&#8217; information and liaison services. As a member of the libraries’ senior management team, the Associate Director shares responsibility for determining the future course of the libraries, including both strategic and operational planning. This is a full time, tenure-eligible, faculty appointment reporting to the Director, NYU Health Sciences Libraries and Division of Knowledge Informatics.</p>
<p>The goal of the libraries’ Research and Education Services unit is to: increase the capacity of faculty, staff, and students to use health information resources effectively; address problems and barriers of access to resources; and promote the use of innovative information management tools and techniques. The liaison services of the unit focus particularly on identifying and meeting needs for health information resources through assessing needs and developing strategic information partnerships between library faculty and faculty, staff, and students.</p>
<p>Review of applications will begin September 6, 2011, and will continue until the position is filled.</p>

Experience in design and development of technology based instructional materials.  <span id="more-4966"></span>Five years experience in all areas in a healthcare setting. Experience in expert searching for meta-analysis, systematic reviews, clinical practice guidelines and other research documents. Master&#8217;s Degree in Library Science, Education, Instructional Design or relevant field required. Academy of Health Information Professionals certification preferred.  Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, Medline, CINAHL and other healthcare databases.  Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills. Demonstrate the ability to work independently, be flexible, and prioritize effectively. Excellent organizational skills to organize and manage a variety of tasks and projects and to work under pressure of time lines and multiple demands. Ability to supervise/direct library staff in absence of director. Requires working at any of the library locations, i.e., 17, CC and LHVM.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The University of Pittsburgh Health Sciences Library System (HSLS) seeks applications for the positions of Consumer Health Coordinator, Network Services Coordinator, Outreach Coordinator and Technology and Communications Coordinator for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine – Middle Atlantic Region (NN/LM-MAR).  Energetic, creative and service-oriented librarians, interested in collaboration, teamwork, and innovation, are encouraged to apply.</p>
<p><span id="more-4935"></span>NN/LM-MAR, recently relocated to the University of Pittsburgh, is funded through a five-year contract (2011-2016) with the National Library of Medicine (NLM), and functions administratively as a unit of HSLS.  The Middle Atlantic Region, one of eight in the country, includes the states of Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania  This position will be one of a team of four librarian-coordinators reporting to the MAR Executive Director, who together will build a strong program to facilitate resource sharing and cooperative projects among a network of over 700 health sciences libraries and resource centers, including academic medical libraries, hospital libraries, public libraries with consumer health collections, and college and university libraries with health sciences programs.  MAR librarian coordinators will also provide outreach programs, often in partnership with network libraries and other regional organizations, to assist health professionals without a health sciences library affiliation and consumers who are seeking sources of reliable health information.  MAR outreach activities include consultation and funding for programs to enhance access to health information, conference exhibits, classes on health information topics and training on NLM databases and resources, including PubMed and MedlinePlus.</p>

<p>The University of Pennsylvania Libraries is seeking a dynamic, service oriented individual to join its Science Libraries team in this two-year, entry level position. Reporting to the Associate Director, Biomedical Library, the Eugene Garfield Residency will provide a new professional the opportunity to develop as a Science Librarian at a premiere research institution in a supportive environment. The broadest goal of the Residency in Science Librarianship is to encourage the growth and development of underrepresented groups in academic research libraries. The Residency will involve a variety of substantive responsibilities and learning opportunities culminating in a capstone project.</p>
<p>Based in the Biomedical Library, this position will be actively engaged across all six Science Libraries (Biomedical Library, Chemistry Library, Dental Medicine Library, Engineering Library, Math/Physics/Astronomy Library, and Veterinary Medicine Library) in research and instruction activities, collection development and liaison responsibilities, and library initiatives in emerging areas, such as e-science and biomedical informatics.</p>
<p><span id="more-4743"></span>The Science Libraries engage in a wide variety of instruction services ranging from library sponsored workshops to curriculum integrated instruction to clinical outreach. Workshops range from introducing key resources and services, search techniques, information management, and productivity tools. Target audiences include faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, researchers, staff and clinicians. Health Sciences Librarians provide course integrated sessions and training within the Schools of Medicine, Dental Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Nursing, and the Penn Health System focusing on evidence based literature and searching. Within the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the Technical Communication Program (TCP) engages undergraduate students in developing a structured and logical exposure to the organization of information resources in the field of engineering and applying it to their work. The Resident is expected to participate in the planning, marketing, delivery and assessment of these programs.</p>
